California private investigators OK'd to be LLCs

In September 2014, California Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 1608, to enable private investigators to establish private investigative agencies as Limited Liability Companies. Previous to that, LLC PIs were prohibited in California; the only choices were 'Sole Proprietor', 'Partnership', and 'Corporation'.

Updating the California PI license test question bank!

On June 23 2014, the State of California mailed letters to CA PIs asking for input regarding any needed Occupational Analysis 'task skills updating' a new PI becoming licensed now should know.

It will involve some phone interviewing, followed by two 10-person discussion workshops.

This was also done earlier this year for the PPO (guard company) license.

Such new topics are invited every 5 to 7 years, so if you know of a task a new PI should know about now that is different than 5 years ago, contact CA BSIS.
